Making Web sites that work for you
The challenge of the Web in 2023
The range of devices

My recent responses to the challenge
Responsive designs (for most of these designs, if you tap or click on the thumbnail, you can see the site itself).
AFPO Calpe
I designed AFPO’s first Web site, back in the noughties. At that point, almost all their members who had any interest in the Web were using laptops or desktops. Once they moved to mobiles and tablets on the one hand, and wide screen monitors on the other, the old site became a liability. This new site is designed to be easily read on mobiles—and it triumphs on wide screens.
The members’ area can only be seen by members. But the public site is full of good things, and is designed to be welcoming.
The Celts Club de Golf
For this club, which operates in Alicante and Murcia, I resurrected a hacked Wordpress website which they had given up on, and managed it for a year. It became clear that a site with over 30 generic plugins was not ideal, so they commissioned a new Wordpress website, for which I not only created a unique theme, but coded several tailored plugins.
The Club was federated in 2011. The members’ section is much bigger and more complex than the public section, but it is private to members. The three displays are displays of the same page in different devices.
Rotary Fellowship Costa Blanca North
This was a website for a Rotary International Fellowship based in Moraira. (It is no longer on the Web.)

The Fellowship was formed in 1986 and has been an active supporter of charities, both locally and internationally. All three displays are displays of the same page.
Flatpaxology
A website for an IKEA (plus) shopping, delivery & assembly service. It offered a real service, but IKEA themselves went into competition … The site is no longer on the Web.
The business was run from the south of the Costa Blanca and covered an area from north of Valencia down to Cartagena. All three displays are displays of the same page.
Sail Moraira
Live the dream!
A really unusual site for a yacht owner inviting people to sail with him. Although it is immobile on this page, if you tap or click on the thumbnail you will see moving dolphins in the background to the header!
The London Drone Company
A single-page “long-scrolling” Web site, for a London (UK) Drone Company. (This site is no longer on the Web.)
Ross, the business owner, liked the idea of a single-page “long-scrolling” Web site — and I took up the idea enthusiastically. Each of the displays above is a portion of the one long page. In wider devices, the navigation menu moves down the page as the visitor scrolls.
The Costa Blanca Male Voice Choir
An online box office for a Costa Blanca choir. People could buy tickets on this site, and then print them off for themselves. It was in use for 4 concerts, which were all sell-outs!

All displays are displays of the same page. Every page on the Web site—navigation, words, logo, photos, forms—is designed to adapt itself to the device, the orientation of the device, and the dimensions of the device. (This site changed for each new concert.)
Creative Shade Sails
A Web site for two creative tradespeople. (This site is not yet on the Web.)

Again, these are displays of the same Web page on different devices.
Judd Steiger
A Web site for an author of thrillers

Again, these are displays of the same Web page on different devices. (This site is off the Web while Judd recovers from a serious illness.)
Jalon Villa Rentals (original designs)
A Web site for a Jalón family estate agents. (The site became part of a larger site, which I also designed.)

Again, these are displays of the same Web page on different devices.
Librería Europa
This was a frequently updated Web site, for a flourishing small business on the Costa Blanca. (The owner closed the business in 2023.)

Gil, the bookshop owner, wanted me to convert my original website design to a site which worked effectively on mobile phones and tablets. (If the photos look different in the different displays, that's because they were in a carousel.)
Everest Tandoori Restaurant
A Web site for a Calpe restaurant/takeaway
Once again, these are displays of the same Web page on different devices.
Taxi Star Transfers (original designs)
A Web site for a Calpe taxi company. This site is still using my database, my PHP code and my Javascript apps (with no benefit to me). But it is no longer using the home page below, and is no longer responsive.
